One Thing a Month

My New Year's resolution is to make one thing--music, photo, writing or video--each month for 2012. Follow along as I document the process

sbergus asked: The way the rules are written, it sounds like the thing is most likely going to be a written/performed piece. Is this the intention, or could the thing be baking a loaf of bread (which could take a month, if you tried to make the starter from scratch,) building a micro still or making a needlepoint thingy?

The other question was:

Also, if the thing can be the construction of a physical good, what will your rules be regarding a complete failure?

I’m hoping to have a decent mix of performed/written/recorded things and physical objects. Some things I’m kicking around include re-upholstering my old desk chair and controlling our disused Roomba over wi-fi.

I haven’t thought a lot about failure, other than I expect to fail at least some during the process. As long as I’m making an attempt and staying with the spirit of the project, I’m OK with things not working properly. But at the end of the month, I’m going to put aside the previous thing and start on the new one.
